Being a cat person can literally pay of. As of January 2023, Nala the cat is the richest cat in the world with a staggering estimated net worth of $100 million, according to a new report from All About Cats. In addition to raking money through sponsored ads on Instagram, the world's wealthiest and most influential feline has a premium cat food brand named Love Nala. Nala is among other felines that have showcased a pure talent in engaging the masses.

To determine the highest-earning cats in the world, AllAboutCats used Instagram data such as followers, likes, and engagement rates to estimate how much each of these influential cats could make per post.
A Guinness World Record Holder
Nala is a Guinness World Record Holder for the cat with the most followers on Instagram. Currently, the 12-year-old female Siamese and Tabby-mix cat has amassed more than four million followers on the photo-sharing platform. She brings her cute face and hypnotic blue eyes to other social media platforms, including TikTok and Facebook, through which she also earns money for her loving owners, Shannon Ellis and Pookie Methachittiphan. On these platforms, Nala frequently draws “awws” from her followers with adorable photos of her activities around the house.
From an Unknown Kitten to The Richest Cat in The World
Nala's story began in 2011 in an animal shelter in California, United States. She was brought to the shelter as a kitten because her owners could no longer afford to care for their cats and kittens. Needless to say, Nala wasn't Nala until she was adopted at the age of six months by her new owner Pookie in 2011. When Pookie brought Nala home, she realized that the kitten had breathing problems and infections.
However, after being loved and properly cared for, Nala's health was restored to 100% and she has grown to become the lovable and famous cat she is today. Nala's owner has a message for people who want pets only in the beginning and don’t care for them later on. According to Pookie, you shouldn't adopt a kitten or puppy just because it’s cute. Rather, you should adopt a pet only if you plan on taking care of it and giving it a forever happy home.
