Media mogul and international role model Oprah Gail Winfrey, simply referred to as Oprah, is an avid dog lover, and that makes her even more lovable as a celebrity. If you follow her Instagram accounts, @oprah and @oprahdaily, you’ve probably seen some of her adorable dog-related posts. In addition, you’ve probably noticed that she often re-shares cute dog photos and videos from other Instagram accounts as well. For instance, in 2020, Oprah couldn't help but share sweet photos from the Instagram account of an adorable Golden Retriever named Coco. See the photos below.

Moreover, the television producer once said that dogs are her favorite role models and that she wants to work, play, and love like a dog. And we've seen her act accordingly over the years.
In 2005, Oprah adopted three Golden Retrievers, Luke, Layla and Gracie, instead of one after she could not resist the temptation to adopt the other two in Tehachapi, California. Unfortunately on May 26, 2017, Oprah lost Gracie in a freak accident after the dog choked to death on a toy at the age of 2.

Presently, Oprah owns five adorable dogs: two Golden Retrievers named Luke and Layla, two Springer Spaniels named Sunny and Lauren, and a Cocker Spaniel named Sadie, though the author and philanthropist has had over twenty dogs in her life.

Of the three golden retrievers, Gracie was the smallest as seen in the above photo. Oprah said her heart starts to race and she feels like she just got stabbed in the chest every time she thinks about Gracie's tragic death. In the United States, Golden Retrievers are the third most popular dogs.
Adopting Sadie
Oprah and her dog SadieTwo years after Gracie's death, Oprah, who has always been a major advocate of pet adoption, fell insanely in love with Sadie as a puppy when she met her at PAWS Chicago, a no-kill animal shelter in Chicago, Illinois. This Cocker Spaniel got a little shaky when Oprah first brought her to her new home but as time passed, she gradually got comfortable and today is not afraid to speak up during Oprah's meetings.
Adopting Sunny and Lauren

Like Sadie, Oprah adopted Sunny and Lauren through PAWS Chicago, bringing the total number of her dog collection from 2005-2011 to five. These five fur babies have been by Oprah's side through it all.
How Much is Oprah Leaving Her Dogs?
Oprah Winfrey's five dogs are set to inherit a whopping $30 million US dollars from a trust fund after Oprah passes away. This makes the family of five dogs the second richest dog in the world as of January 2023 after Gunther VI, a German Shepherd who is worth a jaw-dropping $500 million.
